I tried today in a shop both Ixus 860 and 870 and actually I must say that I prefer the old one (more intuitive to use). Is it me or they removed the LP (long play) mode on the new one? What about you guys, do u prefer the old 860 or the new 870 and why? Thanks!

you have to get into custom function (C. Fn) to do some setting first. Going to Custom Function (C. Fn) select Function 8 (auto focus) and turn on the mode by choosing one of them 1. is the quick mode which will do the same thing he showed at 3:50. Choosing 2 will do what he showed after 6:30

Someone help please? I'm trying to copy what he does at 3:50 but i'm encountering problems. 1. I dont have the two 'squares' that he has on the live view,only one,why is this? 2. he says to press the AE AF button in the top right of the body, I press the AE button and nothing happens? As for the AF button,the only one i can find is on the lens itself,which is switched on? This is frustrating as it stays out of focus, please help cameralabs?

Possibly not a fast enough shutter speed altaever. Keep taking pics at different settings and try to learn about apertures iso speeds etc Try and get it to something like 125/sec at least on a normal lens. Set the iso higher if need be to get the faster speed but it does degrade the quality. Around 1/30 sec is about the slowest you can get without camera shake on a hand held shot. I always shoot in manual mode.

Ok I take my words from the previous comment back, I've upgraded my DPP to the latest version and it seems that Canon managed to put some nice noobproof "tools" there like: noise reduction (non destructive compared to LR), lens aberration corrections (too bad this doesn't support 3rd party lenses like Tamron, Sigma etc) etc, that were missing in older versions, now it only needs some selective adjustment tools/brushes and it will be PERFECT

Yes you'r right. DPP is one of worst applications ever made! RTFM. You can't compare it with LR. They are total diffrent basic approaches. And DPP is free software and so on....

..screw dpp, Lightroom is 100x more user friendly so you don't have to search for oddly placed options,selections and stuff not to mention LR has a better looking interface and more built in tools unlike this, I've had my Canon with this "DPP" software for about 3 years now and to this day I haven't figured out how to remove dust from the images with it,and almost every time using DPP to correct my images they came out 3 stops darker at print, and it's still as odd to use as Ms DOS was for win95

@RiverJH95 never get bridge cameras, they are like slr's but don't offer the speed. what kind of camera offers near instant shutter lag? an slr. the xti is rather old, maybe you should get the t1i or the xsi.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of live view. One of the biggest points of a DSLR camera over a point-and-shoot in my opinion is the immersion that the viewfinder gives you. Switching to the LCD screen seems extremely counter-productive for me, and IMO if you need live view you're better off with a P&S.

that shake is the pop up flash rails (you'l know what i mean if you put the flash up) its not a fault, this happens on every one (i have a 400d with the slight rattle)

I'm looking at this camera as my first SLR (I've had really nice Sony Cybershots up until now, and an old Sigma AS300 35mm). The one I'm looking at comes along with a Sigma 18-50mm lens as well. Pricing is around $400. Do you think this would be a good value? I can't afford the newer cameras - but want to learn the true manual side of photography and want to take alot of nature shots, and macro shots. Appreciate any assistance. Thanks

Es que las descargas no son ilegales cuando son sin animo de lucro, la copia privada (que es lo que obtenemos al bajar canciones o pelis del emule) no es ilegal a menos que lo hagamos con la intención de venderla, los derechos de autor permiten claramente el uso de copias privadas y ni siquiera habría que pagar un canon por ello, ese canon ni siquiera llega directamente a los autores, seguro que mayor parte se lo queda la disquera.

¿Y si me quiero copiar una película de Hollywood , por qué tengo que pagar a Ramoncín y a Teddy Bautista cuando jamás voy a oir una canción suya? ¿Paga la SGAE española algún dinero a las productoras americanas o a otros en concepto del dinero que recaudan por los derechos de otros autores que no están afiliados a su mafia? La SGAE tiene un medio por el cual puedes solicitar que te sea reembolsado el canon que te cobran por tus cds por ejemplo para grabar tus propias canciones o bien ficheros, etc.. que no son susceptibles de derechos de autor. Obviamente debes demostrarlo, mandarles pliegos, cartas y demás, eso si te dicen los pasos que debes hacer. Hay un programa de radio que lo intentó, a la 6º llamada desistió. SGAE = Antiguos corsarios, patente de corso antigua en el siglo XXI

el video esta bien pero no es asi, se paga canon para compensar a los autores por las copias de uso privado que hacemos, es decir, sin hacer negocio de las copias, Y ESO NO ES PIRATERIA, NO SE PAGA CANON POR NINGUN DELITO. El video debería decir "¿Por que pagar canon por una copia de uso privado que no vas a hacer?" o algo asi.

@kiddish09 Good question - I investigated the same thing. Although the coarse specs make them look the similar, the HF20/200 have much smaller sensor, making them not nearly as good for low light situations. The HS10/100's main competition is the 3-ccd Panny HDC-TM300, FYI...
