I don't agree with the T1i. People might have the thought that with the DIGIC4 processor, it makes it similar to the 50D's DIGIC4 processor. No, you're wrong if you think this. It's a totally different DIGIC4 processor that's in the T1i and the 50D. If you're on a budget and looking for a Canon DSLR, I really suggest you not spend the extra hundred or two just for the movie mode. Save it and buy a XSi instead. Whoever does their research, knows what to buy and what not to buy.

Go with the Canon D10. My sister bought the olympus because of my destructive kids. She thought it would be nice to have a camera that wouldn't be ruined when my kids tossed it in the toilet. She hates the picture quality. I got the Canon D10 and I love it. She is so jealous of the quality and all of the cool functions that it has. You can really get creative with the pictures and videos you take. Love it!

I love the Canon D10. It has a ton of features that most cameras don't. I play with the color swap and color accent features constantly. It takes a great still photo and the videos are neat!!!! You can really do a lot with this. My sister is jealous. Her olympus just sucks when it comes to picture quality. Definitely love the D10. I don't give a crap that it isn't the size of a credit card. Come on, quality over looks all the way. :)

I think they completely forgot about the Olympus 8000's Tap feature. They did not even have to use the buttons or dial while swimming..just tap the top or sides to choose an option. I'd like to see them test the Olympus 8000 one more time.

just took the test under water, but it was important to generalize taking into account all the options, not just under water. however, thanks for the demonstration was very useful to leave me more confused! = P I'm in doubt between the Olympus 8000 (was my 1º options) and Canon (2º).

The 8000 has tap feature where you can tap the sides of the camera instead of using the scroll wheel, correct? So if you avoid the scroll wheel I wonder how it would match up. One more test drop all the cameras from 6 feet on concrete and see which ones work, guessing the 8000 will last. Thanks for the review.

WOW! You nothing about optics. I own both and the 200mm f2.0 is twice as fast and the sharpness, color, density blows away the 70-200. Not to mention double the shutter speed and shallow depth of field. On a 7D there is a huge difference. If you buy a 1D Mark IV, not so much. But don't think for a second that the 70-200 can create images that can compete with the 200 f2

If you open your aperture from 4 to 2.8 thats a full stop. From 2.8 to 2 is another full stop. From 2 to 1.4 would be another full stop. From 2.8 to 1.8 is a stop and a third. From 2.8-2 is one FULL STOP. THis lens is in a league all its own and is sharper at f/2 than the zoom is at wide open at 2.8 And again the 2 is one FULL STOP faster and is probably the sharpest lens Canon makes. Its the sharpest I've shot with and I've shot with a lot of Canon lenses.

I find this lens obscolete given current camera technology. Save your money and just use the 70-200 and put it on a 7D. Shooting at iso 2000 is extremely clean and allows fast shutter speeds. 200mm is 200mm and you won't notice the 3/4 stop difference between the two lenses.

Of course Nikon will win in the High ISO settings and ergonomics. I don't know why canon makes it harder for us to set something from outside the camera. We need to disable this and disable that before we can enable something and all these deep within the menus.Setting custom WB in the Nikon is really fast too. This Full frame nikon with low megapixel-count will of course perform better in lowlight and maybe will have better dynamic range. Larger pixels and better per-pixel sensitivity.

Agreed its better where it counts the most. But i have had the opportunity to shoot with both the canon EOS 1D Mark IV, and 5D mark II. Both are amazing cameras. But in all honesty, I really don't care for canon's ergonomics at all. I have miss way to many shots because of the menu layout. and when the hell is somebody going to illuminate the buttons? I can't see shit in the dark!

The only difference between the hf20 and hf200 is that the hf20 comes with 32gb of storage and you must buy SD card for hf200. I have this camera and a setup similar to the one he discussed. It really does perform as he mentions. I bought mine at Wal Mart for 799.

no its just the same, you don't have to go out a buy and external card and you probably don't need to, thats what the internal is for. It comes with a software to manage to videos and simple editing but to really edit it you need a editor that can handle avchd. Most do now but just make sure when you get it.

@ ziozombie Hey man it doesn't matter wat camera u use. Even before dsrl's came about there were film slr's and technology wasn't as good as what we have now. It took a lot of skill to get correct exposures, composition and life into the picture. So if you feel like u're a better photographer by using a flash camera body then I think u've missed the point. Remember Rick's rules! - Use the shittiest camera on the market if Canon pays you to make it look great - Take a walk: even a beautiful location can look dull if you try hard - Look up sometimes. Well the D90 has been fout or about a year now and also its video is just 720p. The D300S is worth a look, the D300 doesnt have video. The D300 is superior to the D90 and also has HD video at 720p. I'd still go for the 7D, which is right up to date and has 50% more mp if thats your thing..

Thats easy :) 7D. You have to look past the obvious feature too, like the megapixels and video. Pretty much the whole camera is uprated and many consider it a professional camera with a "subframe" (1.6x crop) sensor. Also bear in mind the D90 is aging now...

I suspect the 50D and the 7D share many controls. If cost isnt an issue and you want a Canon mid range camera then the 7D should be your choice because many of its features have been upgraded over the 50D. If you arent dead set on Canon then its worth looking at Nikon too... D90 is good, D300 is good too..

I had a 40D before the 50D so I got used to the controls. As far as I am concerned the menu system is pretty simple, and colour coded as are all Canon menus. button position/functions are easy to remember. There may be better newer mid range DSLRs out there now, so it might be worth having a look, especially if you'd like video... The 7D is a 1/3rd more expensive, but hugely spec'd..

Generally speaking, you should concentrate more on your lenses than on your camera. The type of lenses you choose / can afford to use, also dictate a lot of the type of photos you will be able to get. That said, pretty much any of the current Canon DSRL-bodies will give you fantastic results if you use it with a decent piece of glass. And, most importantly, you need to know HOW to take photographs in the first place :)

Thanks for the reply. In some of my first reviews, I found that scripting took too much time rehearsing the lines and extra takes to get it right. Using an auto cue to the side just looked like I wasn't looking at the camera and an autocue machine costs about two grand. Everything is off my head with some minor pointers of what I want to mention before I start.

Buy it (unless you already have!). I have had a 350D, 40D and a now have a 50D. its brilliant. Dont listen to anyone whining about sensor noise. All sensor will produce significant noise at ISO 3200 and above. Up to ISO 1600 noise control is more than adequate.
