Hello Gordon, I have a Celeston Astromaster 130EQ and the 40D. I have the T-Mount adapter and the tube necessary to attach it to the telescope. I have my camera hooked up to my laptop and have the Canon EOS Utility Remote Shooting app running. Herein lies the rub...I am not able to get any focus at all. I have tried adjusting the focus wheels (?) on the telescope and, squat! You mentioned that you used a teleconverter in the video which I am not using. Would that make a difference? Thx Philip

@AppleGenius0921 Nope... might want to consider the 550D for that... or wait for the release of the 60D (video, built in editor (raw and color/curve editor), moveable display etc...)

Is the EOS 40D a DSLR Camera - and can record video? I would appreciate a reply, thanks.

@vwlover94 hmm, you might be able to do eyepiece projection. Youd have to ask at an astronomy store, or search for fz28 telescope / microscope adapter

Hello gordon, my name is allan, i live in los angeles california, and i have a celestron astromaster 130eq, its a reflector,.My photography equipment is a Panasonic lumix FZ28k, and i was wondering , what do I need for my camera to be mounted to my reflector telescope? Will i need a t ring or tube of some sort, because this camera isnt a DSLR, although it does have the shape, but it dosent allow me to disamble the lens and it has no way to do so , i need help, thanks cheers!

I may purchase a T-mount for my Rebel T1i to a Meade ETX-80 for use as a telephoto lens during the day. My question is that I have heard doing this can eventually ruin the DSLR. I don't know how or why it would ruin the camera, but I must find out first so I do not destroy my $550 dollar camera. Is it this true that this is not good for the DSLR? Thanks.

this is really usefull.. i tried some shots before on MF ( only 250mm on a crop) but they were out of focus... i hope this will help(need time before the sky clears out)

live view means you can use the screen for taking pictures and not just the viewfinder, this isnt very common on DSLR's but its starting to get more popular.

Great video. I've had my 40d for a few years and I've just started to get an interest in Astrophotography. Now I just got to find a good telescope.

Any telescope shop will be able to sell you one with a tube attached - try searching for one in your area, or lookup telescope house.
