@TheZacharyWeekend They're the same thing, but in North America, it's called the Rebel XTi, and in other parts of the world it's called the EOS 400d. Canon tends to do that with their cameras. One name for North America, then another name for the other countries.

@RiverJH95 never get bridge cameras, they are like slr's but don't offer the speed. what kind of camera offers near instant shutter lag? an slr. the xti is rather old, maybe you should get the t1i or the xsi.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of live view. One of the biggest points of a DSLR camera over a point-and-shoot in my opinion is the immersion that the viewfinder gives you. Switching to the LCD screen seems extremely counter-productive for me, and IMO if you need live view you're better off with a P&S.

if you want to do low level/locked on a tripod macro shots i think "live view" will be a big benefit to you. that is if you can find a model cheap enough with one on :)

Once you are comfortable with ISO, Shutter speed and aperture settings manual would be. Other wise I would use aperture priority. With a average f number (f8-f11) so everyone is in focus. Make sure the shutter speed is less than 1/60th of second for minimal camera shake (unless using a tripod). If it is longer than that higher the ISO a little. Or auto.. Hope that helps you.

For this no flash and you will need a fairly long exposure. If you don't want to use manual mode use P mode. This well set the exposure and aperture for you according to the lighting. If you want more in focus you will have to have a lower fstop number which means higher actual number as they are the opposite, but this will results in longer exposure. You will need a tripod for best results. Hope that helps, Jamie

The UV filter doesn't affect the image for digital cameras, only for film cameras. All it does for you is protect your lens. 28mm on the 1.6x crop factor is not wide at all. This wasn't much of a "review, you just sorta told us the features of the camera.

Hey Kid, good review but You forgot to mention the crop factor of the XTI (1.6x) so in reality this lense is in reality a 44.8-120mm which is not that wide if you try to shot landscape or group shots, is more like a medium range lense in 35mm Equiv. but for portraits it seems to be a great lense, a few pros use this lense for it !

EOS XTi in Asia and Europe is EOS 400D. You're so smart and did it very well! Tamron 28-75mm is a good lens but I have a difficulty to choose between 24-105mm f/4L IS USM and it. Anyway, u're excellent! ^^

i think im going to get this lens with my d700 400 bucks and they have alot better reviews compaired to the sigma 24-70 i really want the 24-70 nikon but 1730 is really exspensive the d700 is down to 2350 now plus im getting a 80-200 nikon 2.8 so i think tamron for now is the best bet

28mm is not considered wide angle, esp with that 1.6 crop factor on the xti. 1.6 x 28=44.8mm which is definitely not a wide angle. The kit lens would have more of a wide angle then that lens. 200mm is telephoto, so its obvious its not going to be wide.

This camera isnt that serious. Pros do not use this camera. A begining "pro" DSLR Is the Canon 5D. If you do happen to change lenses alot, like myself, the sensor cleaning option does come in handy. So, next time you decide to post another bulliten with shit you dont know about, dont do it. =]

i think you have misunderestemate how serious this camera is. it is not just for people looking to move up from a PNS, this is a real camera, that pros use. pull your head out of your ass. dust is not that serious in SLRs, you can get it out no big deal. before you post another vid, try some acting leasons, it will help with stage fright, you looked like you were going to shit yourself!

He said if you don't want chdk in your camera anymore, then erase it from the card or switch the card with another. There is another option! The only way to activate the chdk on your camera is to switch your lock switch on the card to the lock position. To diable chdk and use your camera's NORMAL interface, then switch the lock switch back to unlock:D

@tealpsyclone @tealpsyclone You might like it, but it is not the best quality codec for editing, period. It's not even one of the best. It is a highly compressed delivery codec. Some cameras natively shoot h.264 which limits your options, but when given a choice there's no reason to ever use it for editing.

@tealpsyclone I disagree. H.264 is an absolutely fantastic codec....for delivery. Streaming, Blu-ray, you name it, it's great. But it is not anywhere near the "best" codec for shooting or editing. In fact, it's a processor hog and it's not nearly as good quality as a lot of others except at a very high bitrate. A simple workaround for editing h264 on slower machines is converting the footage to something like Prores before beginning the edit.

A whole bunch of time lapses I did on a Canon Xti. Used a Ti-83 for the intervalometer. There's a lot of flickering in some of the shots, since most of the lapses I didn't lock down my aperture. Yeah so I don't know what the hell is up with the audio when you watch it in HD. Any questions just ask.

I Had One I've got mine ar March 08 And it cost around 6000 Danish Krones ( I don't know what it is in USD) i'd bought it online, here in Denmark and It was a Canon EOS 400D With Lens 18-55mm and 55-200 mm it was cheaper to buy it with both lens, ;) I Love the Camera more and more
