I use it as a B cam with RED and with a flash recorder and rails matte box etc and carefully graded it cuts in seamlessly. I also use a quarter pro mist filter and soft boxes to combat its weakness in shadow detail and high lights. As long as your not blowing it up to 4 k its great. Just desaturate a bit in post , lower detail and convert to 25f. Yes it doesnt have the build or features , but i enjoy working around it...nce you have it cuts it with the big boys like RED XDCAM , vari cam.

@sodiumwinter never... no dslr user is using it for filming purposed. Its the "big thing" to have 1080p ability inside ur DSLR. I never use it, sure I've tried it out when i got the camera, but if I wanted to take clips, i would buy a proper canon video camera not a dslr. i still mean what ur saying tho:)

hey, how you doing? i stumbled upon your comment here which is 11 months too late haha but i just bought myself a 50d. Dont you have an advantage with low light situations with a full frame like the 5d mk1? Plus wouldn't the pixels be bigger resulting in low noise photography at high ISOs? I was thinking down the line I will get a 5d (used) and keep my 50d as backup. What do you think?

You qualified the casing as a sturdy one on the 5D, it maybe better than any rebel but it's far from being as sturdy as the old 10D. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciated the upgrade I made from 10D to 5D some 2 1/2 years ago but I also didn't regret keeping the 10D at hand for the 3 times I had to send the 5D for repairs, something I never had to do for the old 10D even if I've beaten the old one more.

af speed has alot to do with the body thats why olympus has the fastest autofocus with a 2.8-4.0 lens in the world faster than any ''pro'' body camera ever made if you dont belive me look up olympus E3 with 12-60( 24-120=35mm) lens cameralabs has a video on youtube on the E3 and it shows how fast it is on the e3 and the 520 crazy fast check out the IQ at pbase oly dosent fuck around

I compared NIKON D700 and this camera. I also have NIKON. BUT!!! Picture quality on Canon,sharpness crystallite much more detail on zoom is incomparable better than D700. Prices are same.

So being the new guy on the block, if I understand the comments correctly, one records the film, converts it in Quicktime Pro which makes it useable for Final Cut Pro editing, then you have to record it to Blue Ray in order to keep the quality....heavy sigh. However, forget Vegas Pro for HD editing unless you have a 64 bit machine - while I was on 32 bit, the renders would crash after the projects grew to a certain complexity/size. Why would someone buy an entire computer just to use one piece of video editing software? lol ...especially if you're talking about a 1500-2000 dollar investment At Least! Keep your PC, get After Effects which is miles better in terms of video editing AND it does advanced compositing if you're into making movies or 3D animations, works with most Photoshop filters, does special effects and camera tracking in 3D, etc. Get that and a fast PC for $800 and save your money.

Wow, the lowlight preformance is amazing. I recently bought a Panasonic AG HMC 150. Although I'm satisfied. This camera's quality is equal or better and it costs $1,000 less. Only thing the 150 has over this is Audio controls, inputs/outputs/ looks. I can't imagine showing up to film a wedding with a still SLR. They would be like, "I thought you said you were a videographer."

3.9 FPS is really slow, especially for a camera that's so expensive. However, the 21 megapixels make up, and it takes videos. A professional Photographer wouldn't choose this over the 1d/1ds Series, they are Professional level cameras, these, while they're close aren't.

Anamorphic Widescreen with Canon EOS 5D mk2

An experiment using a vintage Sankor 16mm anamorphic attachment with a very old Albinar 80-200mm f/3.9 lens. 30p slowed and converted to 24p. The anamorphic lens flare and bokeh it produces it quite beautiful. Music performed by John Robertson. Check out my other vids at youtube.com

@UnderwoodLiam i would say 5dmkII is better at inerpreting colors with the full frame sensor, 21 mp's theres a video somewhere i think if u google 5dmk2 vs 7d with a side by side comparision. They are both good cameras, but if and when i get the money ill get the 5d mk II .best of luck -dothisdothat321

The only way to minimize the vignette is to find the right focal length and get it mounted as straight and well as possible, it was pretty severe in this video because i was just holding the anamorphic lens up with my hands. For a crop frame camera you can probably get away with a 50mm but not with full frame. I am editing a new video right now with my DIY mounting rig and the results so far are good.
