@purecombat97 the kiss x4 is the japanese version, and 550d is the uk one. Canon covers all internal parts, but if you get one out of the country and you break the case they wont touch it. I'm looking into getting the kiss x4 as well

Be sure to invest in an L-series lens if you plan on blowing up your images, the stock lenses are not of quality and will show. This is a pretty good 1080p camera as long as you know how to operate focus and zoom on the fly and have a big class 10 memory card. I still don't believe that the House MD season finale was filmed with the 5D which is the ancestor of this camera.

on the Tv mode, is it possible to increase the shutter speed beyond 1/200 sec. when the flash is open? it only allows me to adjust it for a faster speed when the flash is down, and then the image is too dark.

@imabarbiegirl1 I have it and I love it. It is a good step from the digitals to the big boys like T1i. I got it in December of 09 and have taken amazing shots with it. It's 9 point precision autofocus ensures good shots. I use both 18-55 and 75-300 III lenses. The 75-300's minimal focusing distance is about 5 feet, so it is good for wildlife and sports, but not much more Hope it helps.

Thanks for a great tutorial, always took my photos with either aperture priority or manual but never looked (yeah i know lol) at the wb so much but it makes the panorama pictures a lot better to be able to control shutter speed and aperture and last not the least (most important) white balance.

Can someone PLEASE help me? I am taking photos with tungsten light which is 1000 watts and I notice that the room and wall become **VERY** yellow. So I plan on adjusting the white balance manually. You can zoom but as your lens changes, your f stop changes. It can make your image darker or brighter while zooming. I don't recommend using it the zoom on video mode. But great camera otherwise!

@CausesSideEffects Hey man, the difference is this: 500D has higher ISO 500D has HD video @ 720p and 1080p, 450D doesn't have video recording 500D is a little quicker as far a continuous shooting 500D has the new Digic 4 Image Processor 500D has like 15.1 megapixels and 450D has a little more the 12, like 12.3 I made the same decision and I went with the T1i because I am planning on making a career of photography.

@SonoPortoricano You probably have a small 2g or 6g SD. 1080p for say if recorded for two minutes records nearly 3gigs. You need a higher SD like a 32gig, that'll get maybe 40minute recordings.

Oh and it's not made just for Low light use, it just has a very high iso option setting incase you need it, the range is 100-12800 which is pretty good, I spent ages picking through the choices on the Market and really glad I settled on this one.

Depends where you are but I got this camera two weeks ago and it cost me £579 so I'm guessing it has come down in price by a fair amount. I would also suggest the canon as I'm fairly new to this but have a lot of friends that have been in this game for a while who said while there is absolutely nothing wrong with nikons, they just prefer canons. This is a first class bit of kit.

People who debate over d3000 and Rebel XS. Its not the camera that makes great photos the the Person behind the Camera. Both are very nice Cameras. But I also want to state that if your choosing between the 2, Both nikon and Canon are on the Top of the Market but if you have People who are willing to share lens with you, take the camera with the same brand as the lens. Its better when you have a more variety of lens for different certain type of pictures. My Parents use Canon. I Do to.

@DavidC959 I'd recommend the Nikon D200 camera. It's more professional, a better build quality and images are about the same. It lacks LiveView and has some other neat features, but the D200 has buttons for each function. You could probably get a used D200 for about $600.

@SlashIsGod619 : If you have the camera in your hand it's the left button of the two at the top right corner of the camera. At the top of the camera it is marked with an asterisk like symbol. If it doesn't work check if you have enabled AF in Live View mode in Personal Settings (first entry on the last yellow Menu tab.) It's the 8th Personal Entry that says "Auto Focus/Drive" and gives you three options: Disabled, Quick mode, Live Mode. Hope that helps you :).

Hi, that button that you don't know in the bottom is to see through the viewfinder a DOF (depth of field), is to give you and idea of how that aperture will end up working on your composition. the AV +/- button is called exposure compensation and is really helpful to make your pictures darker or lighter. email me when ever you want, I hope I can help you.

I'd say don't bother with the 4-pin USB. Buy yourself an SD card reader. Fast as lightning and the USB port on this camera is pretty poor quality. I put the cord in and the USB fell into the camera itself. I am very careful with all my gear... but now it has to be replaced... Just be really careful bud!

I've got this camera on ebay and now there is a white line in the middle of the LCD and prints. When viewing the photos on my computer the line is black. Any help would be great. thank you

@RiverJH95 never get bridge cameras, they are like slr's but don't offer the speed. what kind of camera offers near instant shutter lag? an slr. the xti is rather old, maybe you should get the t1i or the xsi.

Eh, I'm not a big fan of live view. One of the biggest points of a DSLR camera over a point-and-shoot in my opinion is the immersion that the viewfinder gives you. Switching to the LCD screen seems extremely counter-productive for me, and IMO if you need live view you're better off with a P&S.

and great review there...am a user myself and well needless to say you are dead on... It's very user friendly.. Plus anyone who wants to do macro, the Live view feature is a great help for slective focussing. Also, most people forget to see this, but canon comes with great eos utility software, which allows you to control it via a laptop and also view through the comp. Screen!! It's a great bonus for studio photography

@rockdrummerconnor- well the d3000 lacks the motor and so does the d5000.. But most modern lenses come with their own focussing motor... In canon they are called USM (ultra sonic motor) i dont think all lenses come with focussing motoers and the ones that do are more expensive.

i was thinking and wondering if u would explain abt the lens in detail, but u didnt. So i have this question, I bought a Rebel XS/1000d and the kit it came along with is EF S 18-55mm. It doesnt have an Image Stabilizer. So here is my question, did the shop owner change the lens? And what i have actually found out later was, the seal pack was removed then he pasted a same DUPLICATE seal pack on top of that REMOVED Seal which eventually looked like it has never been removed or unboxed.

There is no dealbreaker between this and the Rebel XSi/450D. The XSi is a better, no doubt, but is it worth the extra price? I'd say no. This camera is for people who don't know what Highlight Tone or Spot metering are.

slr's are great... you just need to maybe take a basic class so you know how the controls are like aperture shutter speed but id say its more fun taking pictures with an slr than with a point and shoot..

thanks video.. I just got this cam for x mas. And I found out if you want to look through the screen you are no longer on the audo settings and it doesnt take the pack as fast as auto.... right? thanks!
