You don't have to delay the dry track but the parallel compression track by minus 64 samples so that it would start earlier without the compression plug-in. The plug-in adds 64 samples so move the compressed track to the left by 64 samples and you won't have that ugly phasing anymore. This only works with two real audio tracks with audio material you can move backwards. You can also delay the dry track by 64 samples but then both tracks will be 64 samples behind the rest of the song.

I have a quick question about the plugin delay compensation...I'm using FL Studio 9 now. the dry mixer track as mrthingy01 says needs to have a delay of 64 samples. Am I essentially just delaying the dry track as much as the compressed track is being delayed? Wouldn't the drum track then start a little ahead of the song?

yes, the phasing is because of the dry signal and compressed signal are reaching the master channel at different times (a matter of milliseconds), not sure what version of FL this is but FL8 has delay compensation to correct phasing (assuming you set it up right).

i do this on cubase, not just to drums but to a full track, and it worked beautifully. I just added a second track and you dont get any phasing, his phasing must be something to do with the send in fruity

compression is very important though it should be used in moderation. If to much compression is used it will affect tone. Many engineers hate compression but I feel it is a must in some cases. For example, if there are dramatic differences in db level from one wave to the next, compression should be used in order to keep the level at a constant hot signal. If to much threshold is applied, there will be no dynamic range. Dynamic range is always important. It is a good idea to eq after comp.

Actually he is more explaining what a limiter does (which is in deed not for the good in this case). A properly tweaked compressor can in fact enhance the impact of drums without sacrificing dynamics. It's usually bass or e-guitars where you want to reduce the dynamics. Drums really need to be dynamic, actually. A really important thing shown in this video is the before/after comparison without boosting the volume at the same time. Only that way, you can really judge the effect.

Well there is not really a lot to get scared about, it's all done in a very controlled environment. There wierd thing is that you don't really feel anything. You're sitting there thinking you're king of the world solving all the different puzzles, and then when you get some oxygen you realize that you couldn't even spell your own name. That is absolutely correct. And you are also right that the first and the second part of the video is two different tests, they are however in the same cronological order as we did them in. In the first part we are brought up to a pressure equivilant of an altitude around 30.000 feet if i remember correctly. When all the dummy tests are done, we descend back to around 8.000. From here we experience a rapid decompression which brings us back to 20.000 feet. I hope the clears the muddy waters:-)

That would make sense if the beginning and end of the video were footage of two entirely separate tests. It seems logical that a rapid decompression test would be a simulation of a loss in cabin pressure due to leakage. But in that case, the test would involve being at NORMAL atmospheric pressure at sea level (ideal cabin pressure without leakage), followed by rapid decompression to a pressure that is much less (simulating leakage at high altitude). The cabin will never INCREASE in pressure.

My question is: Why would pilot training ever involve being in a compressed state, followed by rapid decompression? When you climb in altitude, ambient pressure is decreasing. Once again, that would explain the big pink balloon inflating during the training. It is inflating because the air around it is slowly dropping in pressure (decompressing). This just makes me curious as an AAUS scientific diver, as well as being a PSI certified inspector.

Easy guys. I happened to be in the chamber and i can assure you that it is a rapid DE-compression. And yes that is what happens humid air is suddenly decompressed. I think it is because of the slight decrease in temp due to expansion. Also called adiabatic cooling. The exact same thing happens with clouds. Warm air rieses aloft and is cooled. Cold air can hold less water then warm air, hence the saturation. I hope that answers youre question.

Check your physics, dumbshit!!! See that pink balloon at the beginning?? You're saying that the balloon inflates because the chamber is being COMPRESSED?!! They are decreasing chamber pressure (decompressing) for the exercise, which causes the balloon to inflate. At the end, the rapid REcompression is what causes that fog, which is water vapor being condensed because the pressure has suddenly increased back to normal atmospheric pressure (1.0 ATA). High school physics, look it up, dumbshit!!!

I don't disagree with you, but I didn't mean to say to simply put it loud. At subtle levels it is better to create space with sidechain, but at extreme settings, as in dance tracks, the result of sidechaining hard to tell appart from setting the kick way louder, then mastering the mix with two compressors. The first with a TH between the kick and the rest. The last a limiter set to taste. People without access to sidechain comp would probably want to try this.

nah man, sidechain does work and is on time his attack is 4.3ms in that his 2-8ms values is bs. 0.01 all the way also, if you find it comes out of the sidechain too late, adjust the release there's nothing wrong with its compresser when its sidechained

lol nah daftpunk sidechain compress the whole track (which is common with electro etc.) in fact, you'll find it in 90% of electronic tracks, but its not used as an effect, but to create space (usually) for the bassline/kick p.s. making a phat kick drum is not simply putting it loud.

If you want sidechain that works an doesnt mess up the groove like abletons one there are only two that work spot on. Logics and Pro tools. I never tried Cubase so cant comment. Never trust your sidechain to ableton live, you will get the groove right The best sidechain you will ever get is from a real compressor with side chain facility. The difference is amazing. Duplicates the signal because if he just has the bass drum going into the sidechain input, he'll lose the actual kick drum sound. When you throw it in the side-chain, it acts as a modulator, but you won't hear it. Same as using a carrier signal in a vocoder. So, one goes to sidechain (you'll never hear the kick from this) and one goes back to a free input on the mixer so you can hear it...

Are you thick? You use another or the same kick in a different cell and directly connect it to the sidechain. Your not meant to hear it. This also gives the advantage that when you mute the kik drum that is supposed to be heard you can still have the side chain going if you dont want the rise in volume when the trigger is muted. Using spider is good if you want to trigger multiple sources from the same kick.

I will argue that HD is HD. True HD is just a marketing term that refers to 1080p where in essence 720p is still HD. That being said, I dont think any public website will be able to stream 1080p in the nar future especially considering the ISPs dont have the infrastructure for one thing, and neither does the PC market. I have not really re-downloaded an HD video to check if the resolution is just a high quality widescreen, but for all purposes sake it still looks good enough to be 720p

i loved the old final fantasys 7 - 9 ten was great as well. They all had their faults but the story and worlds were so great that they overpowered the faults every time. Now squarenix has fallen apart producing 12 which was subpar and now 13 which sounds even worse with no exploring and stripped combat what has happened to squarenix

Between Garland, Seymour, Lady yunalesca and the other maesters, I had my fill of the "life is pointless and death conquers all" talk. Yea I never buy a strategy guide for my first run through a game. They might as well call it a cheat guide because that's what it is. It tells you how to beat every boss and get hidden items, ect. I might use one if it was my second go-around though.

This is correct, the amount of and ease which a character can draw spells is tied directly to their Magic stat. So if you're looking for good draws, optimize that stat first and foremost.

i think it depends on the MAGIC stat. either that or Intelligence or something. can't fully remember. but even with those maxed out as much as possible aura is still one of the hardest spells to draw in bulk, along with ultima and a few others (can't remember :[ )

Don't use autotune, it will sound like it has been run through,,,,,autotune, just sing it line by line or verse by verse to get it right or get someone else who can sing in tune. I'm sorry but if anyone important ever has to make judgement on this track,,that will be the first thing they notice, and that is that this guy's voice is really flat.

Small join manipulation refers to things like the knuckle joints in fingers. The wrist is practically the same size as the elbow in terms of joint size, just there are bigger tendons around the elbow. well in UFC(not sure about other organizations) but "small" joint manipulation is not allowed but this as implied in the title is more locking to apply pressure to the specific joint....maybe thats why most mma'ers dont apply this to their regime or perhaps they jus dont do it in the fight

Interesting comment. Nothing's too complicated to a trained fighter too. The reason why it suffers such low exposure in MMA is that joint manipulation has a more devastating and decisive effect than muscle crush on both physical and psychological levels. However, I urge you to try these crushes. They can be extremely painful since it focuses on separating your opponent's muscle with bone. Thanks Steve for sharing!

I am trying to explain how it works compression means taking a raw file and make it into a smaller packaged file. The reason they have different file converions is for a higher quality video and lower quality video like FLV, MPEG, wmv, AVI, Mpeg-4 and many more. Are you having trouble playing video in your windows media player its cause you need to get a CODEC pack like K-lite you be able to watch any format with that.

I've never tried that program but the advantage of windows movie maker as i've mentioned is not only does it compress the file, you can also professionally edit it at the same time. when using windows movie maker your goal is to edit, not compress. however, it made the file 5 times smaller without hurting the quality. I haven't found a better program that would do all this with one function.

That is not file compression that is converting the file, and there is other ways to make it smaller I use win avi 9.0 you can choose your quality and size you want it you can even add a dvd menue or make widescreen or full screen and tons and tons of other features, But when you said file compression that win you take a file and put it into a zip folder or make it into a rar file and so many other what those are the raw file and then you use a tool to unzip them like 7-zip
