this vid didnt help me...My camera always says subject too dark and wont let me take the pic..even after I try diff. app and shutter speeds.... :/
By: trevorskates94. on 02 Sep 10, 04:07:02
@mcdesign2401 He's basically saying you need to keep the shutter open long enough for the ambient light to reach your sensor. Then he says you have to keep the camera still. If you have the shutter open for 2 seconds, all the light that is in front of the camera will reach the sensor. And if you are taking a long picture and the camera get moved at all, that light will reach the sensor differently.

@cameralabs. Thanks mate. I learned a lot from this video and now after taking many a shots I have this work flow. Keep ISO lowest i.e. 100 for my D90. Manual Mode. Aperture anywhere between f/11 to f/22 to get good DOF. Use tripod and remote release. Experiment with different times in bulb mode. Long exposures can give very dramatic results

Hi, very helpful tutorials you've got! But do you have any tips of taking good landscape pictures? When I take pictures of the sky together with the landscape, the sky becomes too light (like aqua blue) and the trees too dark. Any tips to how to make the sky bluer and the trees greener? Or is it just something I need to edit? OR maybe its lack of polarizing filter? Idk. Tips? :D
By: moookieman. on 06 Aug 10, 21:23:11
@cameralabs I know you're really good with cameras and you've used MANY different kinds (as seen in your reviews and tutorials). But I'm just wondering, what camera(s) do you actually own?

Where should one seek the balance between shutter and exposure? What is the bad thing about always having the lowest F-setting and the fastest exposure?
By: skelter741. on 27 Jul 10, 00:36:06
thank you, very nice video
By: pockettaco. on 26 Jul 10, 19:06:54
@azskull You always want to have your ISO speed as low as possible, especially when you're doing night photography where image noise can become much more of an issue. Anything below 400 seems to work out fine, unless you like grainy shots (some people do, depending on what you're trying to achieve) in that case, higher ISO speeds will suffice. Remember, faster ISO speed also means you can shoot with faster shutter speeds, so its really up to you to experiment and see what you like.
By: DRCsyntax. on 25 Jul 10, 23:04:02
Oh man, I totally face palmed while watching this video, cause I always did wobble my camera while hitting shutter release! Great advise on the timer! Thanks!
By: azskull. on 24 Jul 10, 07:52:53
hey there, you explanation is actually quite helpful(: but just 1 question, how about the ISO setting for night photography? probably 100?
By: fuckinwok. on 20 Jul 10, 13:46:47
Fantastic, simple explanation. Great.
By: misterrbrown. on 19 Jul 10, 15:48:11
@david640 use a larger aperture and a longer exposure.

@cameralabs what does it say at the end of the video?
