FALSE ADVERTISING. This camera (and all other canon cameras) cannot use optical zoom while recording video. They showed the lens moving while zooming during the video recording, so they clearly gave the impression that it can do optical zoom while recording video, which is false.

Huh? You got it wrong.. The Ixus 980 has a smaller lcd (2.5 inch) than "it's little sister" the Ixus 870 (3 inch). The lcd on the 980 is smaller due to the presence of the optical viewfinder. In addition, the Ixus 870 has a wide-angle lens, whereas the 980 has more manual controls.

Hi Anamnesia, Your comment can be quite misleading, while OLED displays have an organic dye, LED TVs are merely nothing else then a Liquid Crystal Display with LED backlighting, you stated LED displays have an organic dye which they do not. So LED Displays are technically LED LCDs but OLEDs are not, same goes for AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) screens. Other then that, spot on! =D

Reading these descriptions of ((AM)O)LED displays is amusing at best; misleading at worst. Wikipedia has a good explanation of AMOLED. Recently I heard someone discussing differences between Plasma & LCD TV's, when I asked, "What about OLED TV's?" They said that OLED is the same as LCD's. I called out that they were completely wrong! LED TV's have an Organic dye which, when stimulated by electricity, emits light. Thanks for the video! I wanted to a comparison between TFT LCD & AMOLED.

point and shoot.. lol. well i wouldn't recommend fuji.. cos well u might as well as have a good camera. sony is pretty good, and canon is brilliant. to point and shoot u can pretty much go with any camera. don't be impressed by higher mega pixels, they're just an attraction and only useful if u r planning on blowing up d picture. i'd say go for a sony. the W series is pretty good. i'd say W300. i have this canon. it's awesome!!!

Hi there...I've recently bought Sony DSC W380 and I must say that I'm disappointed with the photo quality...it takes very poor quality images.After uploading the images from 4 GB SDHC memory card to the computer I've noticed that in the low light conditions or even when there is enough light pictures? are in a way without sharpness (kind of rough when zooming the photo) and overall quality is very poor.Also when shooting outdoors pictures tend to be to bright...

I know it will sound hard to believe but my Canon A510 ( I've taken about 1000 images with it) takes images that look much more decent quality both indoors & outdoors than this Sony model. Yes, back-illuminated sensors are the future, iPhone 4 has one too. may be the successor of S90 will have a same sized (1/1/.7") back-illuminated sensor and HD video. Although Ixus 300HS/SD4000 does shoot better and low noise pictures then S90 when shooting in low light, I have observed that S90 gives better detail in pictures because of its bigger 1/1.7" inch sensor same as that of G11. @kafongcheung Don´t know but with the 120 ixus you can zoom while recording and I think it´s a more compakt camera than the big brother. A great camera which you can have with you everywhere and it has 4x zoom while 200 ixus has only 3x zoom

I also just bought the ixus 200 IS after trying the TZ7... i think the ixus 200 has much greater quality than the TZ7... there is an noticeable difference i think. Eventhough they both has 720p HD recording. Must be a reason why canon is the market leader of cameras. But thats just my opinion :p
