But, as anyone just discovering tool will have a hard time with is the unusually difficult (and sometimes deep) meaning behind all the music (and especially their videos). They all just laughed it off like "what was that all about?". Funny.. What I love about tool is that when you first listen to a song, you're lost. It takes more than just 1 listen to begin to comprehend the message, and you have to work at it to find its full meaning. Then after you've understood and appreciated the depth of the music, you're hit with the fantastic musical elements that would make this band great even without the added lyrical value. It's a shame that so many people play this band off as just another metal emo band without fully understanding it

@ Salmoncrusher.......true bands that did form in the 60's and 70's did have some good releases in the 80's and 90's. I guess I should have wrote that there were no good NEW bands that formed after the 60's and 70's...but TOOL definitely has broken some new ground and have created a sound condusive to the craft of making good music......I think that TOOL have expanded the sound of rock-n-roll with the 60's and 70's music being just the beginning of what could be. Did any of that make sense?
