SLR = single lens reflex DSLR = DIGITAL single lens reflex There are still many DSLRs that don't take video, like Sony Alpha and some Nikons

slr's are great... you just need to maybe take a basic class so you know how the controls are like aperture shutter speed but id say its more fun taking pictures with an slr than with a point and shoot..

thanks video.. I just got this cam for x mas. And I found out if you want to look through the screen you are no longer on the audo settings and it doesnt take the pack as fast as auto.... right? thanks!
