I love the T77. I bought it twice. I wish there was a way to customize the firmware....or at leas a way where i can use the "review" button as a direct VIDEO button. cuz when you open the lens, it turns on and goes into shooting mode. the only flaws i feel are the redundant power button, the wasted review button and whack system sounds...other than the focus sound and the shutter sound........and the tiny internal memory..............and the kind of choppy, unresponsive interface.

I don't know why i prefers the sony dsc t 77 althought the difference of 4GB and 3.5" LCD..maybe because its more stylish and tinner than the other one but it's still great in its preformance with a good view of your pictures too! Rely it don't "SUCKS" at all as some people said here!!!

i have the t700, and i really like it! it's a good camera that takes amazing pictures for a camera like itself but don't expect photos to be like the one from proffesional cameras. worth your buck for sure :)

@drmform proud to be a man m8 .... I have no regrets. Why are we arguing about my preference of equipment anyways? I'm not a big time photographer so I use an Adventura 140.... which does meet my requirements as I only got a D5000 and a couple of lenses. It looks neat, tidy and keeps the camera safe.

The centre focusing point keeps following the car until I shoot the photo at 1/1000 (for freezing the motion) or 1/60 (keeps following the car and take a panning shot).

@honnam Center focusing is the best AF-point on almost every DSLR 550D included it's cross type at both f/2,8 and f/5,6 however f/2,8 is more accurate. (ie: using a lens with an f-number of 2,8 or lower) Shutter speed and focus solve two different problems which produce blurry images, you have to get both right. I have no idea what you're photographing but say a dog running towards you requires around 1/1000, 1/60 for panning don't work on a dog but if you got a tripod it works for cars.

@honnam Yes you can however.... .....AI Focus means the camera try to guess if you photograph a stationary or moving object. The downside is that the camera needs some time to figure out which it is. In essence it chooses "One Shot" or "AI Servo" for you. Personally i never use it, if i don't know what I'll shoot i use "AI Servo" it get most things right anyway.

@SewerShark The autofocus sensors are different, the 550D has a center f/2.8 cross type AF-point. The 7D has all 19 AF-points as cross type and the center point is not only f/2,8 cross but has a diagonal cross type sensor as well. Aside from the AF-points the 7D has out of focus detection which can tell the camera if it should focus out or in the 550D has to guess.

@honnam A 550D with kit lens can't do sports, the 18-55 i a low cost lens where optical quality was prioritized. The focusing is very slow, it should have nothing to do with sports, what so ever! Photographing sports (or fast moving things) is a combination of the AF-system and the focusing speed of the lens, USM is usually means a fast focusing lens. I've photographed dogs ruinning at me with the 500D + 85mm f/1.8 ang get 90% keepers, using my Sigma 70-200 HSM maybe 1/4 is in focus.

I have the 500D which has the same AF system as the 550D (the metering is different). Compared to a 7D the 500D has to guess more when finding focus which means more cycling the lens from minimum to maximum focus distance. The 7D has out of focus detection on it's AF-sensor which means it knows whether to zoom out or in. I have the 70-200 Sigma HSM and on my 500D i get maybe 1/4 keepers because the AF can't keep up with fast ojects. The 85mm f/1.8 though is quicker and i get 90% keepers.

@ethansilk Funny you should mention Tokina, I was looking at the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8 just yesterday. Over here it's about £50-100 more then the equivalent ultra-wide angle by Sigma (10-20mm F3.5 HSM), but is made like a tank and is pin sharp. Thanks for mentioning the Tamron, not really the range I was looking for because I want a lens with a bit of a telephoto quality which would be great for portraits.

Nah, i haven't had any issues with back focusing probs... if you are using a crop sensor camera I would also suggest considering Tamron SP AF 17-50 F2.8 XR Di II LD as it is super sharp, however I'm thinking about upgrading my lenses and am seriously looking at the Tokina lenses. I had a play with them at my local photography shop and it is a seriously smooth piece of kit, the construction is simply superb and the optics are better than the Sigma and Tamron, but pricey though

I own a Sigma 24-70 F2.8 which I use on my 40D... once you stop it down from f4 to f5.6 it is super sharp... i think i paid AUD$450 for it and the best bargain lens... though the zoom action can be a little stiff and not very fluid, but I'm not complaining when the pics are so super sharp!

it's very simple the 50D are for professionals not recommended to beginners who are about to step in to photography. I got the 550D myself because i just started but if im a professional i would get the 5D or some better ones. I mean i do not know much but this are just my opinioin i admit the 550D is like a toy cos of its lightweight.

I personally own the 550D. I don't find the aesthetics all that important, such as brighter viewfinder, build quality, etc. as important as IQ. The metering system is fantastic, I'll be frankly honest. The IQ is the same as in a 7D. Comparing a semi-professional camera vs. a newer rebel is unfair--although originally I wanted to get a 50D instead. What sold me was the $200 less price tag with better IQ, full HD, and equiv. ISO. to me the $200 would get me that sexy burst rate and that wheel.

If you look at the AVCHD specs.. there is NO 1080p. If you did some research, you would know that it captures at 1080p and puts it in a 1080i container... meaning theres no loss in quality. Same with NEX5, it captures in 1080p and records in a 1080i container.. you know what a container is, right?

Kai,, i bought the Rebel T2i (aka EOS 550D) on your video recommendation, and it has been incredible, although the kit lens (18-55 f/3.5-5.6 EF-S with IS) is a bit prone to diffracting and getting "the red and blue rings" from sunlight. I want a good normal / mild telephoto zoom for everything from low-light to portrait to close-ups. Do you recommend the 24-70 f/2.8 or the 24-105 f/4 with IS? Thanks, Jason

I think that only works if the camera's clock is set to the same as the iphone. Otherwise there is no way to link them.
